It is happening! The Suns are being installed in Sunnyvale parks and the grand unveiling is scheduled. Ok, I am very excited... but let's catch you all up on what my excitement is all about.

Suns of Sunnyvale

As I wrote a few months ago, 26 artists were selected to each take a sun sculpture and create a Sun of Sunnyvale. These "suns" were then slated to go into public spaces, largely parks, in Sunnyvale. And as you read here, I am one of the artists.

Unveiling Sun Flair

That is the new name of the project! And all 26 suns are now being mounted in Sunnyvale, and so the parks are known. But first, mark your calendars and hope for a sunny Saturday, as on February 8, the mayor and others will unveil the suns.

Time:

The event is still scheduled from 10am to 11:30am on February 8, 2025.

The cool thing is that anyone going here will be able to see all 26 suns in the Sun Flair in one place for the one and only time!

The event drew quite a crowd, and I got to meet a lot of people, including some of my fellow artists and look at their wonderful sun ideas. Here are some of the impressions from the event:

Seeing the my Sun

My Sun is going to go into Ortega Park, and hopefully will be in the park by the 8th or else a little later for everyone to see and enjoy.

Now, I have not been at the park, but from what I can see on the map, it is a very nice park. The park has a splash zone, a softball field, a cricket pitch, a pagoda, and much more. I'm sure my sunflower will be happy here!

Two other artists' sun will be in the park. Rachel Tirosh and Alexandra Muddle. I can't wait to see all of the suns and what they look like.

That's all for this post, I'll update everyone on this exciting project after the install in Ortega Park.

Christine
